Political tensions have reached a fever pitch in the national capital as opposition parties under the banner of the INDIA bloc launched a massive protest against the Election Commission. Leaders and workers from the Congress, Aam Admi Party (AAP), CPI, CPI(M), RJD, NCP, and RSP gathered outside the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) office in Kashmere Gate, Delhi, raising slogans against alleged vote theft and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists.
Protesters accused the poll body of compromising transparency and tampering with voter rights through the ongoing revision process. The opposition alliance has also demanded the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Heavy police deployment and extensive barricading were put in place around the area to maintain law and order as leaders marched toward the office.
Fierce Allegations and Opposition Unity
AAP leaders and workers marched from Sindhi Academy toward the CEO office, facing strong resistance from police barricades. AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha launched a scathing attack on the poll panel, alleging that changes to Form 6 were made without Supreme Court permission and accusing the Election Commission of undermining democratic integrity across the nation.
Meanwhile, senior Congress and RJD leaders asserted that no amount of police action or FIR filings would deter them from protecting the country's democracy. Delhi Congress leaders also led separate marches, resulting in temporary detentions by Delhi Police as protesters attempted to press their demands.
Joint Strategy and Way Forward
Amidst the street protests, political strategizing continued within the opposition camp. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge hosted a lunch meeting for INDIA bloc MPs, including TMC leader Derek O'Brien, to coordinate their joint parliamentary and ground strategy against the poll panel.
The opposition parties have vowed to continue their agitation until their concerns regarding transparency and electoral integrity are thoroughly addressed. Law enforcement agencies remain on high alert as political demonstrations persist across key junctions in the city.
