In a striking and unusual tribute, a 74-year-old woman in Uttar Pradesh was given a grand farewell that has now captured widespread attention on social media. Following her demise, her grieving family organized a 15-kilometer-long funeral procession featuring her beloved pet elephants leading the way, accompanied by a massive convoy of tractors.
A Special Bond With Pet Elephants
The incident took place in a rural pocket where 74-year-old Rambeti Devi passed away after a prolonged illness. Known locally as part of the 'Elephant Family', the household owned two pet elephants named Mohan and Parma. Following the death of her husband in 2012, Rambeti Devi had taken great care of the elephants, treating them like family members. The deep bond she shared with them was evident as both animals walked right at the front of her final journey.
Massive Convoy and Social Media Buzz
As the funeral procession moved towards the riverbank for final rites, spanning over 15 kilometers, locals gathered in large numbers to witness the sight. Alongside the two majestic elephants, the procession included religious tableaus and nearly a hundred tractors carrying around a thousand mourners. Family members shared that the elephants appeared visibly distressed and quiet following the demise of their caretaker. Videos of this extraordinary procession have since sparked massive online discussion.
