Weather conditions shift across India with snowfall and rain
The weather across the country is undergoing a rapid transformation. Following the activation of a western disturbance, the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand have witnessed their first spell of snowfall this season. This has triggered a sharp drop in temperatures, sending chills down to the plains and affecting daily life.
Experts note that the continuous snowfall in the mountains is directly impacting the northern plains. Chilly winds have started sweeping through Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and western Uttar Pradesh. Early mornings and late evenings now carry a distinct nip in the air. The meteorological department has predicted further temperature drops in the coming days, signaling an early onset of winter.
Shifting weather patterns in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan
In the plains, states like Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan are also experiencing notable weather shifts. Following recent spells of rain and strong winds, skies are clearing up, but the drop in temperatures has compelled residents to pull out warm clothing. Several districts in Rajasthan have recorded a significant dip in night temperatures, bringing pleasant yet chilly conditions.
Meanwhile, parts of Uttar Pradesh are recovering from waterlogging issues caused by earlier downpours. However, IMD forecasts indicate that while sunny days are expected to return, the downward trend in minimum temperatures will persist. Farmers have also been advised to stay vigilant regarding their crops as changing weather patterns can influence agricultural activities.
Continuous rainfall and alerts in South India
While northern India prepares for winter, southern states continue to experience active rainfall. According to meteorological reports, heavy showers are expected in parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka. These downpours are attributed to persisting monsoon patterns and localized atmospheric systems.
Local administrations have issued advisories for residents in coastal areas. Fishermen have been cautioned against venturing into the sea as gusty winds reaching 40 to 50 kilometers per hour are expected along the coasts. Regional meteorological centers are closely monitoring the situation to ensure swift response to any emergencies.
Kedarnath Yatra disrupted due to inclement weather
Adverse weather in the hilly districts of Uttarakhand has also impacted pilgrimage routes. Incidents of rolling stones from hillsides along the Gaurikund-Kedarnath pedestrian route in Rudraprayag district have caused minor injuries to some travelers. Local rescue teams acted swiftly to evacuate the injured to nearby health centers.
Additionally, poor visibility and strong winds forced a temporary suspension of helicopter services to the Kedarnath shrine. Authorities have urged pilgrims to verify weather updates before embarking on their journeys as mountainous regions remain vulnerable to sudden weather fluctuations.
