Land Dispute Triggers Fatal Violence in Sahibabad
A long-standing land dispute turned violent in Ghaziabad's Sahibabad area, resulting in the tragic death of a young worker. The incident, which took place near the MMX Mall in the Mohan Nagar police outpost jurisdiction, involved a clash between two rival parties laying claim over a contentious piece of land. The sudden escalation of hostilities led to the use of firearms, claiming the life of 23-year-old Ayush Valmiki, who belonged to Delhi's Gokalpuri area.
Ayush was associated with the Hindu Raksha Dal and worked as a caretaker for a plot owned by the family of the outfit's national president, Pinki Chaudhary. The local police administration rushed heavy reinforcements to the area immediately after the incident to maintain peace and prevent any further escalation between the groups involved.
The Root Cause: A 280-Square-Yard Plot Dispute
According to police investigations and local inputs, the conflict centers around a high-value plot of land near the GT Road. While Pinki Chaudhary's wife legally acquired a portion of the property, an adjoining 280-square-yard patch has been heavily contested. Nomita Sharma, who resides nearby, claims ownership of the disputed portion, creating an environment of perpetual friction and hostility between the two sides.
Both parties had previously approached local police stations and senior officers with cross-complaints regarding boundary walls and construction rights. Despite previous police interventions, the lack of a permanent legal resolution kept tensions simmering, ultimately culminating in the tragic shooting.
Escalation, Firing, and Arrests
Tensions boiled over when members of one party arrived at the site to oversee construction and leveling work. An opposing group, led by individuals including Rahul Sahni, arrived to contest the work, leading to a heated verbal altercation that quickly escalated into physical blows. Amidst the chaos, shots were fired from a licensed firearm, fatally striking Ayush Valmiki in the chest.
Enraged associates of the victim overpowered the shooter and beat him severely, resulting in a fractured leg before police intervened and rescued him. Police have apprehended four named suspects and recovered the weapon used in the crime.
