Tensions have flared up in the national capital ahead of the 'Lehra Do Tiranga' march planned by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). In view of the proposed event, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has issued a notice closing the iconic Central Park in Connaught Place for two days, citing administrative and security reasons.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police have appealed to citizens to stay away from the area, citing prohibitory orders under Section 163. While police noted that small groups might be permitted to hoist the national flag and sing the national anthem elsewhere, a massive gathering at Connaught Place has been strictly restricted as it is not a designated protest site.
Abhijeet Dipke Alleges Surveillance by Undercover Cops
Amidst the growing political friction, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke has raised serious allegations against authorities. Taking to social media platform X, Dipke claimed that the place where he is currently staying has been completely surrounded by undercover police personnel from all sides, keeping him under constant surveillance.
Dipke asserted that hoisting the national flag is not a crime and called upon citizens, student organizations, and civil society members to join him at Central Park. The proposed campaign has garnered support from various independent activists and student fronts, prompting the police to heighten security measures across central Delhi.
Traffic Advisories and Strict Security Posture
Anticipating disruptions, the Delhi Traffic Police have issued a comprehensive advisory warning commuters about heavy traffic congestion around Connaught Place and arterial roads including Janpath, Parliament Street, and Kasturba Gandhi Marg. Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes to avoid long delays.
Authorities emphasized that maintaining law and order, alongside protecting festive commercial activities in the heart of the city, remains paramount. With prominent protest sites facing tighter regulations, security forces remain deployed in high numbers to prevent any untoward incidents.
