Political Tensions Rise Over Elon Musk Comments
A fresh political debate has erupted in India following controversial remarks made by billionaire entrepreneur and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk regarding satellite internet services and domestic regulatory frameworks. Musk had questioned the entry barriers for Starlink in India, targeting industrialist Mukesh अंबानी and sparking widespread reactions from political leaders across the spectrum.
Weighing in on the controversy, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi launched a scathing attack on foreign interference. Owaisi stated that while he has deep political disagreements with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his governance, no external foreign entity or businessman will be permitted to question India's national sovereignty and regulatory autonomy.
India's Decisions Will Be Made in India, Not Abroad
Addressing the public, Owaisi questioned whether domestic political actors and authorities are intimidated by foreign pressure. He emphasized that India possesses one of the most affordable data ecosystems globally and retains full authority over how its domestic resources and technological landscapes are regulated.
Owaisi remarked, "I have a hundred political differences with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and I will continue to oppose his policies. However, that does not mean a foreign national can dictate terms to our country or undermine our constitutional positions."
"I may oppose Prime Minister Narendra Modi politically, but I will never tolerate any foreign outsider attempting to undermine India's sovereignty or dictate terms to our nation." — Asaduddin Owaisi, MP & President, AIMIM
Kiren Rijiju Praises Owaisi's Stand on National Interest
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju lauded Asaduddin Owaisi's firm stance against external interference, drawing appreciation from ruling circles. Rijiju noted that on matters concerning national interest and sovereignty, opposition leaders should display similar maturity, adding that the episode clearly highlights anti-India narratives propagated by vested interests.
The central government has consistently maintained that all satellite communication applicants, including Starlink, Reliance Jio's satellite venture, and Bharti-backed OneWeb, are undergoing identical security clearance procedures without any systemic discrimination.
