A Major Breakthrough in the Rajkot Robbery and Murder Investigation
The investigation into the sensational loot of Rs 1.53 crore and the tragic murder of a businessman in Rajkot has taken a dramatic turn. Police custody interrogation led to a dramatic shootout when the main accused attempted to attack the investigating team while leading them to hidden weapons.
According to official details, the Rajkot Crime Branch was aggressively hunting for the firearms used in the brutal killing of businessman Lalji Sardhara. Investigators had already recovered one weapon but received crucial intelligence that the prime suspect, Anurag Singh Rajput, had hidden another firearm in a secluded spot.
Accused Opens Fire on Police During Weapon Recovery
Acting on the suspect's disclosure, a Crime Branch team escorted Anurag Singh Rajput to the R.K. Industrial Area near the Airport police station limits to recover the concealed weapon. Instead of cooperating, the accused suddenly turned aggressive, retrieved the hidden firearm, and discharged two rounds directly at the police officers.
The sudden assault created chaos, but alert security personnel quickly regrouped to prevent casualties. PSI Vanraj Singh Dodia of the Crime Branch exercised his right to self-defense and fired a single retaliatory shot, injuring the suspect and neutralizing the immediate threat.
"Any attempt to challenge the law or attack law enforcement officials will be met with decisive and lawful action. We are leaving no stone unturned in gathering absolute evidence in this heinous crime." — Senior Police Official, Rajkot Crime Branch
Extensive Network and Prior Arrests Under Scrutiny
Investigators reiterated that Anurag Singh Rajput was the primary trigger-man who directly shot and killed the victim during the Rs 1.53 crore heist. Following the initial crime, police arrested a total of 10 suspects, all of whom were subsequently remanded to four days of police custody by a local court.
With this fresh episode of assault on law enforcement, an additional criminal case including charges of attempt to murder and obstructing public servants from discharging their duties is being registered against the accused at the Airport police station.
