Mumbai Flat Mystery: 26 Lakhs Worth of Jewelry and Gold Coins Disappear Without Forced Entry

A baffling case of theft has come to light from a posh locality in Mumbai, leaving both the police and residents stunned. Cash, gold and diamond jewelry, and 20 gold coins worth approximately 26 lakh rupees were stolen from a flat situated on the 17th floor of a residential building. What makes the incident most mysterious is that there were no signs of forced entry or broken locks anywhere in the apartment.

The Mystery of the Missing Valuables

According to the police, the stolen items include around 7 lakh rupees in cash and 20 gold coins, each weighing about 10 grams. Additionally, wedding bangles, gold and diamond earrings, bracelets, chains, and two sets of mangalsutras were also missing, with a total estimated value of 25.9 lakh rupees. The complainant Kansara family stated that they had accumulated these gold coins over several years through savings and bonuses.

The family discovered the theft on September 15 after checking their belongings. The suspicion grew stronger when empty packets of the gold coins were mysteriously found in the bathroom drainage system, indicating how the valuables might have been handled inside.

Suspicion on Former Domestic Help and Security Lapses

The family has raised suspicions against their former domestic help, who was earlier dismissed for making Instagram videos inside the house. They alleged that she still possessed a set of keys to the flat. However, police have not made any formal arrests yet and are investigating all possible angles.

This incident has also raised serious questions about the security arrangements of the high-rise building. Although security guards are posted at the premises, the building's CCTV cameras were reportedly non-functional at the time of the incident. Police are now verifying visitor logs and questioning the security staff to crack the case.
