The Missing Person Report and Initial Investigation

The horrific sequence of events unfolded when the 17-year-old victim left his home on the evening of September 24 and failed to return. When frantic family members could not locate him, his father lodged a missing person complaint the very next day. Acting swiftly, the local police registered an abduction case and launched an extensive manhunt to trace the teenager.

Investigators scanned footage from 80 to 90 CCTV cameras across the area to find any leads. Initially, there were no concrete clues. In a display of extreme cunning, one of the accused minors even visited the victim's family and the police station, acting grief-stricken. He falsely claimed to have last seen the victim riding away on a white Activa scooter with an unknown person, successfully diverting suspicion away from himself.

Inspired by 'Drishyam 3': The Blueprint to Destroy Evidence

As the investigation progressed, inconsistencies in the statements raised police suspicion. Technical analysis of mobile phone call records and sustained interrogation finally broke the resolve of the accused, who confessed to the crime. Police revealed that the perpetrators drew inspiration from the movie 'Drishyam 3' while planning the murder and attempting to destroy evidence to evade law enforcement.

To mislead investigators, the accused smashed the victim's mobile phone and threw it out of a moving bus to create a false trail of location coordinates. They believed their cinematic planning would keep them safe from the long arm of the law. However, meticulous police work dismantled their narrative piece by piece.

Lured to a Desolate Spot and Brutally Killed

The accused lured the victim to a secluded spot near Brahmand Phase-2 on Ghodbunder Road on the pretext of smoking cigarettes together. Once there, they attacked him with a knife and brutally smashed his face with stones beyond recognition. After hiding the body in nearby bushes, they returned the next day with petrol to set the remains on fire in an attempt to wipe out forensic evidence.

"The accused wanted money for a birthday party and a bike. They meticulously planned the murder and destruction of evidence taking cues from a movie, but our technical surveillance and persistent investigation cracked the case." — Senior Police Official

Police recovered the partially burnt body based on the disclosure of the accused. Legal proceedings under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) are underway as the judicial process takes its course for the juvenile offenders.
