The Chambal River flowing through Dholpur district in Rajasthan is now under strict surveillance through drones and police patrolling. Once notorious for illegal sand mining and transportation, the administration has significantly widened the monitoring net to protect the National Chambal Sanctuary and strictly implement Supreme Court directives.
Senior forest officials, following special directives from the Chief Secretary of Rajasthan, conducted a high-level inspection of the sanctuary. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Pawan Kumar उपाध्याय and Additional PCCF KC Arun Prasad visited sensitive river ghats to assess ground realities and security deployment.
Drones and PTZ Cameras Deployed
Advanced technology is being extensively deployed to prevent illegal sand mining. Senior officials conducted aerial surveys using drones to closely monitor sensitive pockets along the river. They also inspected the installation sites of modern PTZ cameras, which are set to provide round-the-clock vigilance over vulnerable points.
Task Force Review and Enforcement
A district-level task force meeting was subsequently held to reinforce inter-departmental coordination and ensure rigorous enforcement of Supreme Court guidelines. While strict actions taken in previous years resulted in numerous vehicle seizures and arrests, authorities maintain that the vigil will continue relentlessly to preserve the unique ecosystem of the Chambal River.
