The lure of quick money often pushes individuals into the dark alleys of crime, sometimes directly imitating what they watch on screens. In a striking parallel to a popular crime thriller web series, a gang of fraudsters set up a counterfeit currency printing operation right inside a residential flat, before being busted by law enforcement agencies.
Inspired by Popular Web Series 'Farzi'
During rigorous interrogation, the key accused revealed that they got the idea of printing fake currency after watching the popular web series 'Farzi'. Convinced that this was an easy route to immense wealth, they turned to the internet and YouTube tutorials to master the techniques of duplicating security features. Operating out of a rented flat, they began mass-producing counterfeit notes to pump into the market.
Special Paper Sourced from Maharashtra
What made their operation particularly deceptive was the quality of material used. Instead of standard paper, they utilized a specific grade of paper designed to mimic genuine currency texture. Police investigations uncovered that this specialized paper was being supplied from Maharashtra through an intermediary. Authorities are now meticulously mapping the supply chain to nab others involved in the syndicate.
Crackdown and Seizure by Police
Acting on a credible tip-off, a police team laid a trap and successfully apprehended three suspects—Shubham, Mahendra, and Tinu. A thorough search led to the recovery of fake currency with a face value of Rs 5.26 lakh, alongside laptops, color printers, mobile phones, and raw printing materials. Senior police officials have emphasized that a comprehensive probe is underway to dismantle the entire network and protect the financial system from such malicious operations.
