Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has launched a scathing attack on the Congress party over its stance on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, accusing the party of double standards and criticizing its demand for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Hitting Out at Congress Over Double Standards
Addressing an event, CM Yadav stated that when Congress wins elections, it has no issues with the SIR process, but finds faults in it elsewhere. He condemned the recent protests led by Congress demanding the resignation of the CEC over alleged irregularities, asserting that anarchy in the name of protests against the Election Commission will not be tolerated.
"When Congress forms governments in Kerala and Himachal Pradesh, it considers the SIR process correct. However, they raise objections where they face political defeat," Yadav remarked. He urged the opposition party to introspect and review its own historical records instead of undermining constitutional institutions.
Targeting Leadership and Historical Decisions
The Chief Minister further accused the Nehru-Gandhi family of treating political leadership as a lifelong fiefdom. He claimed that while princely states had surrendered their powers post-independence, those powers seemingly became concentrated within the Congress party.
Recalling past events, Yadav alleged that Congress had fielded former CEC T.N. Seshan against veteran BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani and claimed that IPS officer K.P.S. Gill was made to hold a Congress flag during the tenure of the Manmohan Singh government.
Development Initiatives in Narsinghpur
Shifting focus to governance and local development, CM Yadav inaugurated a new building for the Sandipani Excellence School built at a cost of Rs 42.52 crore and flagged off a dedicated bus service for students. He also transferred Rs 213.41 crore directly into the bank accounts of over 35.56 lakh social security pension beneficiaries.
Highlighting the government's commitment to education and infrastructure, the Chief Minister announced several major upgrades, including the ambitious Rs 540 crore overhaul of the Goteगांव-Narsinghpur-Pipariya road, along with the foundation stone-laying of 21 development projects worth approximately Rs 95 crore.
