The villages remain the same, so do the lanes, but the children running through them will never return. Homes that once echoed with laughter and chatter are now filled with silent grief and unbearable sorrow. A devastating boat accident in the Raghopur area of Bihar's Vaishali district has wiped out the joy of three families, leaving behind a trail of inconsolable mothers and broken fathers.
The tragedy struck when children from the same extended family were traveling on a boat to attend a shraddha feast at a relative's house. What was meant to be a routine journey turned into a catastrophe when the boat capsized, killing 13 children, most of whom were under the age of 15.
Outrage and Administrative Action
When the bodies were handed over to the grieving families, chaos and wailing erupted. District Magistrate Varsha Singh visited the community health center to meet the bereaved families, where angry locals staged protests and raised slogans against administrative lapses regarding river transport safety. Taking strict action, the district administration ordered the withholding of salaries for the local circle officer and station house officer, issuing show-cause notices.
